Glitter Nails

Glitter is a great and fun way to bring shimmer to any nail design. It can be elegant, classy, fun; whatever you wish to make of it really!
Make Your Own Glitter Polish
In a little tub, pour out some polish - from clear base coat to any colour polish, and add half a spoon (to start with) of glitter. Mix it together and apply as you would.
Adjust the glitter according to what suits you and the client.
Glitter Acrylic Powder
In a tub, pour around one tablespoon of acrylic powder, and half a spoon of any glitter of your choosing. Mix together and apply as you would.
Of course, adjust the glitter as required. We recommend testing the powder prior to applying and using on clients.
Tip: Ensure you do not pour too much glitter, as this will cause the acrylic powder to become thick and lumpy which will cause application to be difficult.
The second method for using glitter with acrylic powder, is to pick up a bead of acrylic powder, and then dip into the loose glitter. Ensure a smooth and even spread for full coverage.
Glitter Tips
  • Using a peel off basecoat is a great idea, as removing glitter nails can be difficult and time consuming.
  • When applying glitter, put something underneath like a paper towel or tissue to prevent any mess.
  • For best glitter application, apply a nail polish which is the same colour as the glitter. Ensure to put the glitter whilst the polish is still wet. Tap the finger from both sides to take off any excess glitter, and with a fan brush gently brush the nail.
  • Once the glitter has applied, use a toothpick to push any glitter back on to the nail from the skin and create a smoother line from the cuticle.
  • When applying a top coat, try not to push down on the glitter. After each top coat application, we recommend cleaning the brush before putting back in to the top coat as there will be glitter stuck to it!
  • Two top coats is a great idea if you would like a smoother feel nail.
  • Ensure there is no nail polish on the skin before applying glitter, as when you pour the glitter it will stick to the skin!

A little glitter goes a long way!
