Mica Powder

What is Mica Powder?

Mica is a natural stone that contains small and shiny flakes. It is then grinded down to form Mica Powder. Mica Powder is available in a range of different colours, and has a variety of uses from adding to Resin, Soap, Candles, Cosmetics, and use on Nails!

There is a huge confusion between Mica & Pigment Powders. Mica Powders are a form of pigment powders, but the Mica creates a sparkling and shiny effect, whereas the pigment is the actual colour itself.

Benefits of Mica Powder:

  • Non Toxic
  • Free of Heavy Metals
  • Natural
  • Available in a range of different colour
  • Different tones, textures and colours of Mica is available.

Mica comes from a natural mineral called muscovite (the same family as quartz). When extracted from the group the Mica itself comes as a white or khaki colour, to which natural oxides are added to give it the beautiful colour.

Natural vs. Synthetic Mica

Natural mica is natural mica which comes from the mineral muscovite, however synthetic mica is created in a lab (still from natural minerals). Usually synthetic mica is much smoother, easier to work with, deeper in colour, higher in purity which is why it is such a popular choice for most!
