Nail Transfer Foils

Nail Transfer Foils are a fun and easy way to create exciting and unique nail designs.
Nail Foils come in a range of colours, shapes and patterns, and is a very convenient option compared to hand-drawn nail art.
Nail foils can be applied in a range of different ways from cutting out certain shapes, making strips, using a range of foils to create a camouflage look and more!
There is no limit to what you can do with nail foils, and the fun begins once you start experimenting and trialling different methods of application!
Types of Nail Foils
Nail Foil Transfers come in a range of colours with various types of textures such as chrome, metallic, glitter and more.
There are also two types: Foils can firstly come scrunched up, an example of this would be the gold and silver leaf. These can be encapsulated in nail gel, builder gel, acrylic powder and more. Nail Foil Glue is not required.
The second type is Transfer sheets which you are required to cut down to size.
What is required to use Transfer foils?
  • Nail Prep - As with any nail designs, it is very important to prep your nail properly to ensure your designs last as long as possible.
  • Base Coat - A good quality base coat is very important to help ensure that your nail designs will last but also help protect your natural nails.
  • Gel Polish - If applying transfer foils on top of gel polish, we always recommend finding a neutral colour/colour which is similar to the foil. If you really want your nails to stand out, using a black gel polish is a great option.
  • Foil Gel - For transfer foils, Foil Gel is a very important step to ensure the foil fully adheres to your nails.
  • Foil Sheets - Any of your choosing. J&R have a range of foils starting from as low as £1.
  • Top Coat - As always, it is important to apply a top coat once you have completed your design, to ensure it is protected from any damage.
How to Apply Nail Foils
  1. Prep the nails - It is very important to prep your nails as usual by trimming and pushing back your cuticles, buff your nail surface and apply your base coat and gel colour.
  2. Apply a very thin layer of Foil Gel on top of your acrylics, gel colour, builder gel or even natural nail.
  3. Cure under the UV lamp for around 30-60 seconds (follow the instructions on the bottle).
  4. Cut your transfer foil to size, and place directly on top of the Foil Gel. Apply light pressure on the transfer foil. TIP - If you would like to apply your Nail Transfer Foil just to a certain area of the nail, apply the gel only where you would like it. Foil Gel is very sticky and difficult to work with, therefore it is very important to practise prior to completing on clients!
  5. Remove the foil by gently peeling back & cut off any excess foil which did not transfer to the nail.
  6. Finally, finish by using a glossy or matt top coat.
